New Dry-Pack Canning Procedures for Prescott Stake

1. No more Stake Canning Days where you go down and can at the cannery
in Mesa.
2. Individuals can now go directly to the cannery in Mesa (no appointment
necessary) and purchase up to 300 lbs of bulk items or 12 items - per
household every 30 days. Hours are Monday - Friday 9:00 -11:30 and
12:30 to 4:00. Phone Number is: 480-214-9114
3. During the same visit, Individuals can also purchase the necessary cans
needed to can their items they are buying, not to exceed 200 cans at one
time. (You may place a larger order to be delivered in 2 weeks.
4. Pre-arrange to check out the "stake dry-pack canner" from Janyne
Brimhall 928-541-0642 to can at your home or neighbors garage. Note:
canning can NOT be done in the church building.
5. Non-members may purchase food and cans, ONLY when accompanied by
a member.
6. As noted above, this can be done on an individual basis, but it is also
suggested that this be done on a ward basis too. The ward canning
specialist may choose a day and place in Prescott for the canning to take
place. They need to check out the canner and have ward members come
to can their food. This can be done in one of two ways. They individual
can purchase the food buy himself, or the ward may purchase a bulk
order.
7. If wards choose to do a bulk order, they need to call the cannery in Mesa
and place bulk orders of food and cans for their ward members. There are
no designated dates for these orders to be placed, but it is suggested that
it be done once a month, or as needed. If the need arises for more
orders, as long as you give the cannery 2 full weeks to order items, you
may place additional orders.
8. Someone from your ward will need to be responsible to go and pick up the
bulk order and pay with one check. They may collect individual checks
from ward members, but need to pay with one check at the cannery. It is
suggested that ward members chip in to cover the cost of gas for the
person picking up the order. This can be handled in various ways by
individual wards.

SPECIAL INVITATION: The Provident Living Awareness Group will be placing 1
more order on September 28th, to be canned on Oct. 16th. Wards and individuals are invited
to participate in this canning event. From then on, wards and individuals should
