1) Are the apples listed freeze dried? The apples are dehydrated, not freeze-dried.

2) If you order by bulk (for example, a 25lb bag of white flour and a 25lb bag of oats) will that person need to come to the canning day to can this themselves? Yes, that person or someone standing in proxy for them, will need to come and can their bulk items that day! They can come during the morning or the evening sessions; 9 a.m.-12 noon; or 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Another option: If you can't come that day to can but still want the food, you can order the food/empty cans and pick it up that day uncanned. You can then check-out the stake canner and can it at your own home on another day.

3) Can you order just empty cans? What is the gas charge for that or is it already added to the cost? Yes you can order empty cans and the price for gas is already added into everything. It .75 per can which includes everything. (can, lid, oxygen packets, box and plastic lid).

5) If someone is interested in ordering 8 cans of cocoa, do they have to order cocoa in bulk AND the cans needed to can it OR can they just order 8 cans of coccoa? Can they basically skip the canning step by ordering by the can instead of in bulk. Your question about the coco makes sense. However, skipping the canning step is IMPOSSIBLE - because SOMEONE needs to can it - it won't can itself! This is one of the problems in HELPING make things easier for people, they get to the point where they don't want to do ANYTHING but pay for it. That is NOT the system. It won't work if that becomes the system - because the person in charge will BURN OUT!

When a person buys just 1 can of cocoa, and 1 can of apples, or 1 can of eggs, it is a PRIVLEGE. No where else can you do that for such good prices. So, to make that work, someone needs to come and help can the cocoa, apples and eggs that is being split up. There needs to be the spirit of sharing and SACRIFICE to make this all work. It’s been proven that those who come and EXPERIENCE the canning part – “Catch the Vision”. It’s the difference between giving a man a fish and teaching him to fish. Our Stake President wants us to be self-suffient!
